Professor Eduardo M. Targarona is Chief of Unit of Gastrointestinal and Hematological Surgery at the Hospital de Santpau in Barcelona, teaching hospital affiliated to the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Clinical activity of Prof Targarona has been mainly devoted to MIS, with special focus on physiopathology, spleen surgery, benign esophagogastric disorders, bariatric and colorectal surgery. This clinical and research activity has been translated to more than 300 papers and H index of 45, 3 books and 75 chapters.
Professor Targarona has developed an important teaching activity on MIS undertaking more that 70 workshops on colorectal and bariatric surgery, as well as Director of the University Master on Endoscopic Surgical Techniques under the auspice of UAB. Professor Targarona has been invited around the globe with more than750 lectures presented. He is member of the Editorial board of 6 journals, as well Senior Editor of Surgical Endoscopy and Director of Cirugia Española. He is the current president of the Spanish Board of Surgery.
